Movies...

Went to see 'No Country for Old Men' this afternoon with DD.....although I wouln't condem it out of hand as she did I must say it was an odd one! Didn't hate it but didn't really enjoy it and certainly didn't love it. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

Haven't been keeping you up to date with my weekly UKS 'team cards' ....tsk tsk! So here are weeks 3 and 4. Week 3 was - Beverage and week 4 was texture.
That's it for now.....will post again later this week.

As promised....

here are the pics of the mini book I did over the weekend.

Overlooked....

Here is my LO for the Overlooked Challenge....it's quite different for me and a bit 'grungy' but I like it for a change.

Finished a mini book for my brother Nick and his wife Gill yesterday, using a kit from Scrapajack and some Crimbo photos converted into Sepia. Will give it to them next time I see them as a little thank you. I think Gill appreciates these sort of things and won't just throw it in the bin! Will upload some photos later.

Woeful Wednesday

Dear Diary

Heath Ledger is dead at the age of 28.

That is very sad, he was a fine actor and I thought his films were brill. I will look forward to seeing him as the Joker in the next Batman movie. What a tragic waste!

Started on my altered book but not too sure what I'm doing so am floundering a bit so will have to do more homework on this topic I think.

Ooppss....

Slipping again - no posts in three days! Oh well, let's not sweat the small stuff as they say. Had a good weekend, no thanks to the awful weather. Went to Make It Show on Sunday with some Scrapaholic friends - spent quite a lot but got some nice stuff including two great books about 'altered journals' etc.

Have started an A-Z Journal about me and have now done the first two pages which I'm quite pleased with considering I've never done an 'art journal' before.

Also thinking of doing an 'altered book' now too.

Tired....

Had a very fitful night's sleep last night. Strange, morbid dreams. Kept waking up too, which isn't like me. Needless to say I'm very tired this morning and have to work all day to cover for holiday. Grrr.

Went to see 'PS I Love You' with Sue at the flicks yesterday afternoon. It was OK but not really my cup of tea - too much of chick flick.

Sue seems to have changed a lot or is it me or is it that I'm just too sensitive these days??? We always used to be such good friends but she seems very much wrapped up in her own little world with not a care about how anyone else is. She seems very self centred and has a bit of a 'martyr syndrome' going on about her mother. Oh well I'll wait and see what she's like after her mother has gone........have a feeling that I won't be hearing much from her after that.

Mail Art.......

And now there's Mail Art......

I joined in a swap on UKS called 'decorated envelopes' and one thing led to another and I've spent all afternoon 'faffing' with different ways to decorate them.

Here are some of my efforts.....

I really enjoyed doing these and will be doing them on all my envelopes now (even though I don't post much!?!?)

New....

Been missing again haven't I? Oh well, I'll try a bit harder this week....LOL.

Anyway, have decided to give up on the 365 challenge as I was finding it a bit of a stress trying to keep up with it every day.

So have decided to convert to Overlooked blog, which is a more sedate one photo a week! The first prompt is 'Mug' and here's mine.

I've also done the 2nd prompt for Sam's Art Card Challenge. This week's prompt was 'New', so I journalled on the back about the new phase of my life, the menopause!!

Feeling a bit better in myself this week, so here's hoping.

Dear Diary.....

Apologies for being AWOL. Had one of my 'turns' again and just 'went to ground' for a while! It's wonderful being a woman with all that it involves (she says in a sarccy voice!). Anyhoo, after loosing it again at work on Wednesday, I went to the doctor and have been put on HRT which hopefully will eventually solve my 'Jekyll and Hyde' issues along with one or two others! Please bear with me and forgive me for 'disappearing' every now and then!

Will catch up on the last couple of day's 365 prompts today and over the weekend and will go and have a look on Flickr and leave some comments for all you clever peeps.

Colour.....

“The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good, on you!”
Coco Chanel

Well I love RED, I don't wear it often but it does suit me and I love red lipstick but have always been toooo self-conscience to wear it but not anymore!

This is my favourite red bag and I have a pair of shoes that nearly match it too.

What does red say about me.....

Emily Falconbridge - 52 Cards

An extra entry today to show off my finished challenge from last year. They are all together on a large book ring and hanging on my wall by my books. TFL

Day 7 - Look Back

Look back and smile on perils past.
Sir Walter Scott

Well, not too many perils last week, I've really enjoyed the start of this journey into self discovery and photography.

Been busy with the dreaded housework today and taking DD to the garage again and trying to find DS a weekend job.

Hoping to find some 'ME' time tonight for a bit of scrapbooking and general 'faffing' about.

Day 6 - Hands.....

Hold out your hands to feel the luxury of the sunbeams.
Helen Keller

A dry, cold day today - quite slippery underfoot as I walked Milo this morning. A happy, quiet Sunday here in our household. DH has gone walking for hours and hours, I've done a bit of laundry and keep admiring my 'new' front room. Looks fab though I say so myself.

Today's prompt was about hands and if there's one thing that gives your age away it's hands! I can no longer get away with saying I'm 40 unless I hide them! LOL. Mine or getting very dry and I have my first 'age spot'. I must try looking after them a bit better.

Day 5 - Beautiful

"I am beautiful no matter what they say"
Christine Aguilera

If you say so Christine! I don't feel beautiful most of the time and can't say that I am beautiful in the way you're supposed to be today. Size 8, blonde, 6' tall with very high cheek bones!?!? However, deep, down inside I have begun to learn to love myself as I am at long last and it's a case of 'take me as I am warts and all' (I haven't got warts honestly!!)

Today I've been busy painting the walls in the front room and DH is now painting the 'feature wall' which is a strange shade of brown - hope it looks OK when it's dried.

Sod all on the telly tonight so may watch a film - DH out bell-ringing again.

Routine........

"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are"
Mary Jean Irion

Today was nearly a 'normal day', however I had a 'hissy fit' at work and ended up in tears (not good for a receptionist!). Had to take some 'time out' - it was something silly that brought it on but was 0ne of those 'straws that broke the camels back' moments.

We are also in the middle of decorating and so this afternoon I was 'cutting in' in the front room and so now have an aching back and paint plattered hands.

Anyhoo, back to the prompt and here is the photo that shows part of my 'normal day' ..... the dreaded washing up! No sooner have I finished one lot than there seems to be another pile waiting for me.

Imperfections?!?!

Prompt for today:-

"Life is too short and too amazing to spend time worring about imperfection "
Ali Edwards

So I'm gonna try not to worry so much about life's imperfections, I mean is anything in life really perfect? I'm not, that's for sure, yet I do tend to be too hard on some people and don't suffer fools gladly. I shall make a real effort to try and be a bit more patient with those nearest and dearest to me (even DH!) from now on.

This photo was a deliberate blur today to show that although it's imperfect it's still a picture of me. However, most times I don't have to deliberately blur them 'cos I somehow manage to do that without trying! PMSL.

Trying

Second prompt was 'a word that sums up your day' - well mine has to be trying!!!

Day started well enough, even though it was first day back at work - yuk! Then had to take my DD to garage to have them look at her car. Then popped into Sainsburys to buy some bits for tea only to discover at the check-out that I had no purse!! That's the problem with swapping bags over....so I'll have to stick with one from now on! Grrr! Trying to look at the bright side..........I s'pose I saved money 'cos we'll just have to eat whatever we have in the fridge/freezer/cupboard now.

Resolutions!

Hi one and all

My first resolution has GOT to be keeping up with my blog on a daily basis!!

So here goes with day one......

Although I said I wouldn't I got involved with another annual project via UKS. It's a daily prompt for a self portrait photo along with a journal.....arrgghhhh!!

First prompt was

'A Day Without Laughter is a Day Wasted'
